Hepatica Wild Flower

Since this delicate wild flower showed up in the last poem, Basketful of Ramps, we might as well follow up quickly with its own poem.

12 Hepatica

Hepatica
liverleaf
wort, wyrt of old
buttercup cousin
name like a goddess
Goddess of spring
green phoenix out of winter brown
pale purple for Easter rising
white of early bride
headdress of beads
fancy against dull duff
sweetness of heart
affection of hands
innocence of mind
when we too feel light and lifted an in love.
