Late December, I choose a theme for the coming year. It is something on which I want to work and, I suspect, often something others are ready for too. 2020 fortuitously was “Year of Breath” as COVID took our breath away not long into the year. 2021 was “Year of Freedom.” We all poked our heads out with new perspectives. 2022 was “Year of Grace” as we opened our homes and hearts and healed into the post pandemic changed world. 2023 was “Year of Contentment” to settle into gratefulness and appreciate the little things.
2024 is a fresher year. It is more about industry and activity. For me, it is the “Year of Creativity.” Do I think blocks of time for big creative projects will suddenly open up. No, yet bringing creativity to everything we do is possible. Even laundry can have a creative element with lavender sachets or cedar balls or a red velvet bow on top of towels in the linen closet. Creativity is adding beauty and love and intention. Enjoy the poem and your year of creativity.

Reimagine without judgement.
Explore, experiment, hands in the dough
Color, texture, sound
Form, function, fluidity.
Paint a new outlook
in niches and broad fields
bringing forth beauty
from sublimity within.
