Breath Touch – 18 NaPoWriMo

This word pairing prompt recalled the loss of breath touch during COVID19. Especially in the beginning of the pandemic, closeness took on a fearful tint. Some of that surely lingers. This poem is in celebration of the ebb of that fear. Day 18 of NaPoWriMo.

18 Breath Touch

Breath Touch

Past our breath fears
Intimacy of shared spaces
Energy exchange
Eyes windows to emotions
Touch of a friend’s breath
in laughter and whispered stories.

Tell me a secret
close, in my eager ear.

Kiss me on the lips
deep as cavernous love.

Hold my hand
stroking that delicate spot
with your fingertips.

Brush your cheek against mine
sigh into a hug,
heart beating to beating heart.

Whisper sweet words
vulnerable sentiments
I love you!
