Voice Relief – 17 NaPoWriMo

Day 17 of NaPoWriMo. I wrote this poem to our word pairing prompt amidst the sound clutter of an airport. We need those healing silent times where talking is out of place; when we can be present to nature around us. Enjoy the poem.

17 Voice Relief

Voice Relief

Quiet the electric chatter
Silence of nature’s voice
Wind that rolls across treetops
moving the clouds
yet unruffled are the purple coneflowers
and bright-eyed daisies.
Creak of age-dried rocking chair
Purr of curled lap cat
No need for words
human constructs
mumblings.
Breath the true voice
Eyes true communication.
