Hermit – 23 Tarot NaPoWriMo

The Hermit is a classic Tarot character, archetype of the wise old man. The Hermit leaves society for introspection and contemplation. He uses the intuition symbolized by his lantern instead of all the noise of the outside world to find truth.

Day 23 of National/Global Poetry Writing Month (AKA NaPoWriMo). Hermit card from the “Angels and Ancestors” deck by Kyle Gray, art by Lily Moses.

Hermit

Moving off society’s boulevard
into myself,
the moon path.
In lunar light
intuition shines,
the inner mystic reveals.
The Hermit’s lantern
lights the hidden way,
Illuminates my shadow
in deep contemplation
in the symbiotic forest.

Oneness is found
in this trickling creek.
Waters quiet my body
Waters ever changing flow
where there is no past,
no future,
only this moment,
only me
one with all
the symbiotic forest.
