Lucky Day 13 of National/Global Poetry Writing Month (AKA NaPoWriMo). Lucky rainy day. Spring showers and such. The sound of the rain and gentle thunder last night was comforting. Today is what my dad would call “an all-day soaker.” With Easter this Sunday, it is a good time for the “Spring” oracle card from Angels and Ancestors deck by Kyle Gray and Lily Moses to come up. Enjoy the poem and maybe plant some seeds this Spring.
Spring
Spring
to bound
to break out of ruts
to sow and grow.
zucchini
sunflowers
herbs
almost guarantee a crop
start there
then add fussy cantaloupe
long season watermelon
warm weather lavender.
Tend daily with hands in the dough
Water judiciously
for some situations thrive in moist soil
while wet will rot the tomatoes.
Watch for encroaching weeds
doubts
busyness
obligations
distractions.
And,
sometimes, try a different crop
for orchids will not grow
in zone four.
