Since I am 54% genetic Scandinavian, the Norse Myths and culture resonates with me. Women were not marginalize in Norse Myth nor history. In fact, Viking wives ran the farm and family. Feminine power is different than masculine power. This shows up in my Freyja poem.
Day 10 of National/Global Poetry Writing Month (AKA NaPoWriMo). Tarot card prompts.
Freyja card from The Goddess Tarot by Kris Waldherr.
Freyja
Freyja
Gold crowned Norse Goddess
of love, beauty and leadership.
She sees and influences the future
through falcon eyes of her feather cloak.
She is lady
with the strength of feminine allure
and strength of will like the tamed bore at her side.
Creativity and wisdom of choices,
using our golden gifts to lead.
A women’s power is subtle
like rein aids and shifts to drive Freyja’s big cats.
She will grant us a place in Fólkvangr
green fields of heaven
where warriors and women of substance feast after death is earned.
