Clearance 3 – Tarot NaPoWriMo

Poem 3 of National/Global Poetry writing month (AKA NaPoWriMo). My 2022 theme is Tarot/Oracle cards. This card speaks to me especially in spring when the urge to clear and clean is strong within us. Sweeping is therapeutic. Check out my poem Sweeping Meditation to get the vibe.

Clearing space for something new to come in really works btw. After I cleaned out my closet, gave away a giant tub of clothes, new-to-me clothing came to me in several ways refreshing my wardrobe and refilling my closet with better fitting and more up-to-date clothing.

Card from Witches Wisdom pack by Barbara Meiklejohn-Free and Flavia Kate Peters, artist Richard Crookes.

Clearance

Clearance.
Spinning widdershins*
after winter’s coop
with piled snake skins high.
Bring out the stiff besom,
broom of promises like the corn field
with its rising rocks
awaiting plow and seed.
Sweep away clutter of mind and place
Opening space
for wishes to land
for ‘tis true “out with the old,
in with the new.”
Clearing breeze through open windows yon
coiling fresh kinetic energy
to spring forward
into chipper thoughts
and keen actions.
Sweep and you shall receive.

*Widdershins, Scottish word meaning contrary direction, spinning counter-clockwise.
