New Moon – 1 of Tarot NaPoWriMo

My inspiration for 2022’s National/Global Poetry Writing Month (AKA NaPoWriMo) are Tarot cards, Oracle cards. There are endless varieties of card packs with empowering themes. Since tonight is the new moon, let’s kick of “Tarot NaPoWriMo” with the New Moon card from the “Moonology” deck by Yasmin Boland, art by Nyx Rowan.

If you have a card you’d like me to use for Tarot NaPoWriMo, please share a photo of the card with credit to the card deck author and artist.

Follow along as we explore inspirational desks and positive poetry all April long. Here’s your first poem.

1 New Moon card by Yasmin Boland and Nyx Rowan
1 New Moon

New Moon
or hiding of the same ol’ moon
moving past what you see
to what you intuit,
to wandering.
Moon slate colored and clean
False paths disappear
Stars brighten
sprinkling down their fairy dust
of new,
of imagining.
This cycle, do something different
un”expected,”
nourishing,
scary,
worthy of that fairy dust.
