Paradise Understood
Schooling with Lau’ipala
where Captain Cook is memorized
an apology of sorts
in the most beautiful snorkeling spot
flanked by goat-hurdled cliffs
and the great blue.
Green coral on the plunging precipice
colorful fish mingling
their nibbles auditable
oblivious to tragedy
or noon tsunami drills.
We paddle our yellow kayaks
dipping in for a dose of reef life
together
in Paradise
understood
for its hidden dangers.
