Full Moon Last Snow

Full Moon Last Snow
Full Moon Last Snow

Spring ducks
with the mallards
on the thawing pond.
The lion of March
softly pads in.
Snow dust shaken from
the glowing moon,
wise Grandmother moon
whom we ask for intuition
and courage to leap.

The otters,
their happy feet,
slide on the thickening snow
for this is the last of winter,
third snow on the Robin’s tail.

Sunshine blooms
strong and direct
even as the cold lion’s roar
clatters the white branches.
Last change for a snowy walk,
cold toes and nipped finger tips.
Last chance for a hearth fire
and rocking chair
for the lion will be gone
on the morrow
and the tulips will push up
through the warming soil
as we swing into our
first leap of the new season
blooming strong and direct.
