Saved by the Sunset

This literally happened to me tonight. The sunset caught my stress-ridden eye and this poem started coming. Hope it helps you too.

Saved by the Sunset

My teeth hurt from two days of clenching.
Jaw, shoulders, hips too
like piano wires.
Even a glass of gone-off red wine
doesn’t ease the tension
my body is hording.

In zombic habitual hurried tasking,
my eye catches
the orange of sunset.
A beautiful signal-fire
that nothing really matters,
that good and bad
are constructs.
This celebration between
perpetual day and night
is real.

I am fleeting
and what worries me
is merely a judgement.
This and I shall pass
but the sunset
is there.

I relax for I am not the hero
nor the damsel in distress
just a passer-by
here to enjoy a few sunsets.
