Thanks to Tammy and Steve, Salmon fishing on Lake Michigan this 4th of July weekend. No fish but a wonderful full moon on for Independence day. Three poems came out of sitting on the boat soaking up the moon. Scroll to read them all. Enjoy the poems and your freedom.
Soaking in the Moon
Pinked cheeked on the horizon
flapping moon wings
she peers into the night stage,
rising.
She spills her moon trail
over the water
straight to my heart.
I tap to open my chakra
and let in the light.
Moonlight flushes the sunlight
pushing it out through
my fingertips and heals
leaving calm and restful contentment.

Moon Over Lake Michigan
The deepest of the greatest lakes
steeped in full moonlight
flashing off trolling lures
enticing salmon who
seek cool waters
as are we,
the cool of
Independence evening
after the hot struggle.
Fireworks fountains
frame the shores
so small in the distance.
Yet the moon looms large
spilling enlightenment down
on the scattered boats
cautiously distanced
all seeking one end,
Salmon.
But the salmon are deep and elusive.
So we enjoy the cool
and loving moon,
the unifier
for we can all share
in its timeless,
universal perspective.

Take in This Light
Hanging moonrock
like a traveling ornament.
Sun-reflected light
in a calmer,
more thoughtful array.
Pooling light
on the sloshing waters
it follows in our wake.
Dark waters cresting
over moontrail
but the light will not be sunk.
Take this light into your third eye
to cull your wisdom.
Take this light into your throat
to calm your words.
Take this light into your heat
to kind your actions.
For Moon and the great waters
were here before us
and will linger
far beyond us
pouring down transformed sunlight.
