Experience Wind

You guessed it, windy day today in the woods. A good tree listening day but that is another poem. While biking against wind isn’t fun, going out in it, sensing it, is fun. The trees pictured here were clicking together, creaking, and having a grand ol’ time. Enjoy the poem.

Experience Wind

Experience wind
hear it coming
slapping the tree tops
as it rolls.
Feel its shove
and swirl like
an unseen stole.
It boxes your ears
and slides past your nostrils,
be quick to catch
any scent
encased in that chilled burst.
The skin on your face
with wind’s force
on your pores
feels alive, awake
as you blink against
the moving air.

What makes wind?
Not scientifically
but in purpose.
To shuffle,
to pollinate,
to strengthen.
It is a force
one we can
so readily experience
by standing in the wind – thrilled.
