Living Large, Living Small

Poetry writing month dedicated to coping and thriving during the COVID-19 pandemic journey.

I have a stack of Destiny Cards at my bedside. Normally I choose which one I want displayed. Its theme is what I work on. This card fell out of the pile instead of me choosing it. “Living Large” made me curious. This poem is a discovery of what “Living Large” means during safe-at-home for COVID19. What might it mean to you?

26 Living Large, Living Small

My Destiny Card
that decided to come up
says “Living Large.”
How do we live large
in quarantine?
To me living large
is travel to faraway places,
having new experiences
and learning first-hand history,
culture, and art.

Maybe to live large
during pandemic,
we must live small,
small in physical distance
and space,
large in heart space.
After all,
our thoughts and words and actions
can reach across the planet.
So, living large
is reaching out,
not with arms and legs,
but with love.

Living small is appreciating
what and who are in our small space
a balcony garden,
plenty of wood in the wood pile,
a favorite mug,
a journal,
a book,
quite time,
kid time,
play time.
We are living!
