Say “Thank You” to Those Someones

Day 20 of Poetry writing month dedicated to coping and thriving during the COVID-19 pandemic journey. We talked about reaching out in the poem “Postcards in the Mail” on April 2nd. Now is a good time to be grateful for our life teachers and reach out (even if just in a moment of silence) to them to say “Thank you.” Sometimes we never know how much we have meant to someone unless they tell us.

Say “Thank You” to Those Someones

You know the ones
The ones who made a difference in your life
Who helped you through tough times
Who helped you become you
Who were your teachers, mentors, inspirers,
and confidence builders,
those understanding listeners.
Those who helped you see your beauty and talents
Even those who forced you to grow and know your own strength.
Whether they touched your life briefly and powerfully
or have supported you life long,
acknowledging their gifts
thanking them for being your village
is the greatest gift you can give to yourself
and the greatest gift you can give back to them.
