Windy Day

Ah lovely day in the woods in the beautiful wind. The sounds, the smells, the a live trees dancing around. Had to mark the day and the experience with a poem. Cracked open my oil pastels and made a picture to go with the poem. Enjoy both!

Windy Day

Windy day
listening to the trees
clicking their bones together
swaying with them
me hanging onto their bumms
and they riding high.

You can hear the wind linger
off in the distance
an ocean sound
then it runs on tree tops
closer and closer
this is when to put your ear
to the tree
and hold on hugging.
Trees done mind touch
never offends
the always share.

A leaf blows in
through the open door
okay, okay
time for lunch
listen to the wind humm
and the frogs croak
between gusts
with rattling leaves
the trees are playing now
it’s the only time they
can kiss each other
flex their grain
and curl their toes holding ground.

I bet it feels good for them to move.
The young ones especially
get rowdy
clipping a card to their spokes
and running a can across the picket fence
fingering all their neighbor’s feathers.
