Feed the Birds

Poetry writing month, Self-Care, Self-Calm theme as part of the collective whole during Coronavirus.

One of the best parts of working from home is the birds. I have cracked corn and suet out for them. There are two pairs of cardinals coming all day as well as Hairy, Downy and Red Belly woodpeckers and what I think is a nuthatch. He hangs upside down to eat. I learned the value of birds from Dad. They are the best coping device for all this pandemic stuff.

Feed the Birds

Wild birds are good company
They are busy about lunch
while we are watching them
from a comfy chair
mesmerized and thinking of nothing else,
our worries forgotten,
just enjoying those pretty, quirky birds.
