Sweeping Meditation

This poem was inspired by my friend Kristen Sweet who I always think of when I think of meditation. She had a text conversation right before I wrote this. Enjoy. (Sorry no photo, upload speed too slow.)

Sweepting Meditation

Sweeping Meditation

Sweeping Meditation
firm handle
grounded to earth
firm bristles
with clear purpose.

Sweep, sweep, sweep
rhythm and repetition
little piles into big piles
Sweep, sweep, sweep
corn broom strokes the wood floor
Sweep, sweep, sweep
little piles into big piles
whisked up
and tossed away.

A sense of calm and clean.
Swept away with the dirt
is the clutter of the mind
tossed away with the dirt.
Calm and clean
Sweep, sweep, sweep.
