I have come to love silence having a job that entails constant stimulation. Silence is soothing, it is hygge. Find some silence for yourself.
Silence is an art
possibly the first art
possibly a rare art.
Silences is not lack of sound
it is lack of mechanical voice, electrical voice,
lack of disturbance.
It is all as it should be.
Silence is the soft hum of the fire,
the creek of tree twins,
squirrel toes on rain frozen snow,
the jangle of water tripping over thawing ice.
Silence is me
the gentle thud of curved wood on wood,
steady scratches of graphite across my white page,
and sipping fire-warmed tea
in the woods
away from all that is not silence
just me and the tapping woodpeckers.
