Fireflies

Every night when I peek out the bedroom windows to watch the firefly displays. Fireflies are one of those things you would not believe exist unless you see them with our own eyes. Here is the poem they inspired:

Fireflies

Lawn stars
like shooting stars,
Embers spit from a fire,
Wishes and shining fairies,
Twinkle lights
hovering above the green lush.
Lightening bugs
each one a beacon
leading a mate to shore
Come hither, come hither
let me light the way.
The call of nature
in electric display.
