Attraction

Poem #14 – Stamp collection – National/Global Poetry Writing Month 2017

Attraction

Like Pooh to honey
A moth to flame
A young boy’s fancy turns to love
in the electric air of spring

that beautiful time of sprouting
uncurling from winter’s fetal position
face to the fresh rain
and pokes of stiffening sun

Alive, alive, alive
the hills, fields, forests and hen houses
are alive

Out come rototillers,
pruning shears
and wet clothes draped
over dormant clotheslines
snapping in the overzealous spring breeze

Hope joins fancy
as the world greens and sparkle
in the universal language of flowers

Revel my dears
Take a big whiff
of springiness
We are the lightning bugs,
the flirty birds,
the tender shoots
about to bloom.
