Graceful

Poem #1 –  Stamp collection – National/Global Poetry Writing Month 2017

Graceful

Scalloped wings
Delicate
Strong
Graceful

Delicate, fleeting as is life
Strong, resolute as is spirit
Graceful, beautiful as is soul

Delicate to the touch and crush
Strong enough to cross continents
Graceful in movement and purpose

At one with the wind
False eyes fluttering
Deep blue false eyes
made up for an evening out
to startle the birds

Summer Linea clothes
dressed in colors of earth.
Fall clothes
dressed in the colors of roses

Graceful from leaf to flower
Busy at the work of carrying on
One butterfly in a paper chain
of butterflies

With grace this Common Buckeye
follows its purpose
Content to be part of the symbiotic matrix
of life connected to life
to death
to life

Graceful in the way
we move through life,
our summer and fall colors,
the continents we cross
again and again
Our spot in the chain
Graceful,
unselfish
in our symbiotic role
Connected life
to death
to life.
