Darkness moves

Darkness moves

Darkness moves

The darkness moves.
Pinpoints of black
swarming in waves
like chimney swifts,
like thousands of krill
moving as one body,
one flowing mass.

Darkness vibrates.
Forms materialize
out of the creaking walls
and thumping street sounds.
A cat squeals in heat
at the drifting moon.

Midnight pulses.
Darkness shifts
questioning your faith
in safety and security.
Believe without seeing the future clearly.
Believe what the dawn will birth
is seeded in the dark,
that this limbo is where
we trust in what is forming.

Let the darkness form into your dreams.
The light will reveal how they manifest.
Trust the mystery of darkness,
that our finite minds might be opened
to wonders we could not have imagined
without the work of the universe
in the hours of black.

Imagine the best.
Be not afraid.
Do not see goblins
but garden angels
and wish-granting god-mothers.

In the darkness,
see your dreams coming true
and when you finally wake
to the orange glow of dawning,
look for surprises
beyond your dreams.
