Abstract 1 – hypertonic pelvis

Abstract 1 hypertonic pelvis
Abstract 1 – hypertonic pelvis

Grounded squirrel
with slinky backbones
and ready pelvis

Weary of hawk shadows,
and padded coyote,
and silent snakes
who slither into your home
through the open door.

With a black eye
lidded by reflective white
she wonders me.
Not hawk, nor coyote, nor snake,
she bravely watches,
lets me get closer.

Me with mint
to my lips,
only champagne fears.
Where is my brave black eye?
Where is my confident prairie-dog stance?
and inviting tail wave?
I have the same fight, flea, or freeze protection.
I can climb a tree too.
I am proud and yogic.

When I walk away
she comes to peer at me.
She is so brave
and limber
and open.
Maybe her curiosity
trumps her fears.

I will be curious too.
I will stand tall and look around
letting my vulnerable belly spill out
and I will relax my on- guard ribs
taking my share of breath and space,
and I will wave my tail,
wave my tail
high in the air.
