This poem was inspired by standing on the beach in my tall boots watching the ocean waves. The soft lines of the incoming and outgoing waves moved me and got me thinking about the softness and connectedness of nature.   I felt so much a part of nature standing there on the sand.  The photo is sunset over that ocean at Lincoln City, Oregon.

It’s the soft lines and riffles
It’s the abundance
It’s the interconnectedness
It’s cresting waves
and growth rings
and shadows
and wild rose petals
and maiden hair ferns
and a full curl ram’s horn
and rainforest canopy
and ant antennae
and every sunset
and every new day
and every new life
and every death that
returns its energy to
the cycle to begin again.
It’s nature,
only nature.
