Stay another day

Nature is telling me to stay here in Wisconsin. Flights canceled today due to high winds. News that snow is predicted in Eugene tomorrow. Humm, when will I get back to Oregon? Here’s the poem (btw – notice the halo on my snow angel):

Stay another day

Early morning
gusty winds
Tamarack tree
vigorously waving at me
“Don’t get up;
stay another day.”

Flight delayed
No open seats
until tomorrow
“stay another day”

Stay another day
This is your home
Stay where your heart lives
and where your roots cling
to the granite bedrock.

Stay another day
with the seasons
with your snow angel
and deer tracks
pressed into the perfect white.

Stay another day
in the place of dreams
and possibilities
of second chances
and new chances.

Stay another day
Listen to the winds
pressing you here
to spend this day and all days
with the ones you forever love.
