Wintergreen

There is almost nothing better than a walk in the woods. Recently I discovered that the waxy green plant pictured below is Wintergreen. If you chew on the leaves or berries, you will taste the oil which indeed is wintergreen. Enjoy the poem.

Wintergreen

Tough little mint
thriving in the forest.
Waxy green leaves holding
a refreshing view on life.

Look up!
See the lichen polka-dot trees.
See the island refuge
in the middle of the forest sponge.
See the perfect squirrel footprint
in the snow.

Early dry snow
Stacked gems
Pulling down the sky
on a blue sky day

Blue sky
Where everything is possible
Everything is new again
Everything is nature
Everything is love

Love
Love alive
Life alive
We are thriving in the forest
surrounded by wintergreen.
